The property: La Coufaudiere is the first of a line of ancient cottages that formed part of a working farm many years ago – I believe the buildings are around 400-500 years old. I have restored the cottage to retain original features such as the wonderful oak beams, fireplace & staircase, but have added modern conveniences such as a washing machine, microwave & a full cooker with oven & grill. On the ground floor is a living/dining/kitchen fully equipped with cooking utensils, crockery & glassware plus a BBQ for your use. There are double patio doors leading to a private patio & garden. Up the ancient oak staircase there is a twin bedroom [the 2 beds easily push together to form a double] & a shower room. I live on site & am always happy to help whenever asked. I have a productive flock of free range hens who will provide delicious eggs & I also grow organic vegetables & salad that you can buy when I have a surplus.

Outside Area: Leading from the patio doors in the living area is a gravelled patio with flower tubs & BBQ & this is a fantastic sun trap. Above the patio is an area of grass & both areas are for the sole use of tenants of the gite.

Surrounding Area: The Limousin is steeped in history & as the gite is mid-way between Poitiers to the north & Limoges to the south, you have ready access to a huge variety of cultural & sporting activities. The Limousin is known as the land of 1,000 lakes & there are lakes for swimming as close as a fifteen minute drive away. This part of the Haute Vienne is rarely crowded even in mid-summer & the roads are still easy to navigate & no hassle when it comes to parking your car. If you want to get to the coast [the Vendee] this will take you around 3 hours. In the gite you will find a huge pile of brochures covering a vast array of things to do & places to visit in the area but I find that a lot of my guests wind down to such an extent that the patio is often the furthest they get for several days at a time! Relax & enjoy.......

Pricing Info: 3 price brackets – low season [October – March] , mid season [April, May, June & September], & high season [July & August]. Utilities are not included in low season lets. Linen is available at a small extra charge. One month’s rental is required to be paid in advance & Euros are the preferred method of payment.
