The property: 1930’s wooden beachouse with all mod cons in the centre of Montalivet, very private. West flat, one of three self contained apartments in the house, sleeps 4-5 and comprises 1 double bedroom plus a further bedroom with 3 single beds. Kitchen, bathroom with bath, small sitting/diner.

Despite being in the centre of things the Beachouse is quiet and private with off street parking. Built entirely of wood in the 1930’s it is old fashioned and charming and furnished in a relaxed Beachouse style.

NB. From mid June to mid September the beachouse is let as one house and not as individual apartments.

Surrounding Area: 200 Médoc châteaux within 1 hour open in winter for wine tastings. Surfing for the brave. 22 bars and restaurants, clothes shops, surf shops, ice cream parlours and every kind of entertainment for children are on your doorstep. Some restaurants open in winter, especially at weekends. Bordeaux with its shopping, antique market, restaurants and stunning architecture is only 1 hr 15 minutes away.

Activities out of season:

Day trips to Bordeaux, shopping, museums, opera and ballet, great markets. Saturday - Place St. Michel, great food market, Sunday - Antiques and Bric a Brac, Monday - general, clothes and shoes etc (some serious bargains), Sunday until 2 on the Quays very popular foody market with stands serving food and wine. Bordeaux has been voted by Wallpaper magazine as Europe’s Coolest City and it is living up to its reputation ... brilliant futuristic tram service with a park and ride system from seven points outside the city centre. The Utopia cinema at St Pierre shows 4 different films all the time many in English and lots for children which have won awards at different film festivals. American blockbusters and Disney NOT featured. Masses of great restaurants including Rick Stein’s favourite ... Many English and Irish pubs serving food. Festivals throughout the year and international fairs at Europe’s largest exhibition centre. Bordeaux is the best preserved 18th century city in Europe.

Merignac airport is the Médoc side of Bordeaux and can be reached in less than an hour. Have friends to stay.

More than 300 wine châteaux within an hour ranging from Mouton Rothschild and Margaux to some very small châteaux where some interesting bargains can be found around 4 to 5 euros a bottle. Visits all year. Wine courses and tastings.

Learn to ride and manage horses: 2 kms from Pey au Bruc Jerome (English) and Isabel (French) run a dynamic riding school open all year.

Walks: 120 miles of sandy beaches, 14 nature reserves within an hour, marshes, forest walks, hunting for ceps and girolle mushrooms. Unlike other areas of France you are free to walk virtually wherever you please.

Cycling circuits throughout the area.

Local markets every day of the week.

Thalassatherapy spas at Euronat and CHM open from March. Luxurious Caudalie open all year using Vinotherapy techniques.

Fresh air, The Médoc has the largest number of living centenarians in France, healthy living, slow pace of life, peace and tranquility, excellent local food are all reasons for living in the Médoc.

Take the ferry to visit France’s largest zoo at Royan. Spectacular polar bear enclosure and Children’s zoo with baby animals.
