The property:  The two gîtes form part of a converted mill. They were recently renovated to a high standard. The downstairs living area of approximately 50m² includes dining table and chairs, 2 sofas, and open fire and TV/DVD player. A digibox is available. The kitchen area is fully equipped with a  fridge freezer, cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave, as well as toaster, kettle and coffee maker. Upstairs there are three tastefully decorated bedrooms, 2 with built in wardrobe space. Two of the bedrooms have full size double beds and the other has 2 single beds. The bathrooms are slightly different in each gîte (one has a separate toilet) but contain a shower, vanity unit with mirror and sink and a heated towel rail. Heating is from electric convector heaters in each room and from the open fire in the living room. During the winter and spring, electricity is generated from our own turbine (provided there is sufficient water) and at other times, it is charged at cost. 

Outside Area: The moulin is situated in the valley of the river Gioune, and is accessed by a small stone bridge. Immediately outside the gîtes is a terrace with picnic style tables. In front of this, to the river is a lawn. Garden furniture is available. In the summer months, we also have a small above ground pool. All of the surrounding area is available for walking /exploration and is abundant with edible mushrooms in late summer/autumn. There are individual stone barbecues for each gîte. The river is available for trout fishing free of charge, but a licence is needed.

Surrounding Area: The nearest village is Felletin where you will find supermarkets, bars and restaurants. The market is held every Friday morning where a large selection of produce including olives, bread, cheese, vegetables and meat are available. Felletin and its bigger neighbour Aubusson are famous for their tapestries and museums are found in both towns.

Local Tourist Information Centres can be found both in Felletin and Aubusson, staff speak some English. Each Wednesday afternoon (weather permitting), the tourist office in Felletin conducts an “organised” ramble in the locality. The 1000 hectare Lac de Vassiviere is only 25km away and here you will find watersports and sandy beaches. In the winter, there are local pistes for cross-country skiing and a bigger ski resort can be found at Mount Dore, less than an hour away.

Pricing Info: Rates vary according to season. Longer term winter rates (November - Easter) are 700 Euro pcm. Linen (2 sets / bed) is provided free of charge, but towels are not provided. Gas for cooking is included in the rental. Logs are available for a nominal fee. Rental is payable in advance and a damage deposit is also required.
