The property: La Chaumiere On the ground floor is a spacious open plan kitchen and dining area. The kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, tall fridge-freezer and microwave. An extensive range of kitchen equipment and appliances are provided (e.g. toaster, filter coffee maker), ideal for entertaining or for long stays. The utility room, adjacent to the kitchen, houses a washing machine, ironing board, iron, vacuum cleaner etc. A wide stone archway leads from the dining area into a magnificent lounge with high pitched ceiling and large traditional Breton granite fireplace. There is a 28” TV with English satellite channels, a DVD/Video player and a Hi-fi system with CD/cassette player. A selection of indoor games, puzzles and reading material are also provided. At the opposite end of the cottage is the ground floor master bedroom. This has a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room with washbasin and power point for shaver etc. Adjacent to the bedroom is the downstairs cloakroom with WC and hand basin. Upstairs there are three spacious bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and two with twin single beds. The king size bedroom has a 17th Century Breton feature fireplace and the bed can be readily converted into another twin bedded room, if preferred. A central bathroom has a shower, washbasin and WC, with power point for shaver etc. Quality bed linen, duvets, pillows and towels are provided. (NB. Beach towels are not included). |

Outside Area: There is a large gravel forecourt on the south side and a secluded, private garden surrounded by fence, walls and tree topped banks. A set of swings is available in the garden for children’s use. A large exotic wood table and chairs, with sunshade, are provided during the summer for use in the courtyard or in the private garden. A large, gas operated, Sunshine trolley barbecue is also available. A further large area of grass interspersed by fruit trees will soon be available and is the perfect spot for sunbathing, relaxing or having a picnic. Access may also be given to the owner’s adjacent landscaped gardens, with feature pond and picnic table. Parking is available either in front of the house or in an adjacent parking area. |

Surrounding Area: Whether you just want to get away from it all, enjoy varied beautiful landscapes, relax on golden sandy beaches, visit historical sites or wish to have a full activity holiday, Brittany Thatched Cottages is the ideal base. The nearest village is Quistinic (3km) with a shop, bars and restaurant. The nearest crêperie and bar (2km) offers delicious meals at very reasonable prices. Baud and Bubry, both within 12km, have supermarkets and other shops. Pontivy is the nearest large town with plenty of shops, supermarkets and a stunning Chateau. Markets - A market can be found each day of the week in one or more of the following local towns e.g. Auray, Pontivy, or Hennebont. Poul Fetan (12km) - a restored thatched village working museum, with traditional baker, potter, farm etc. Village de l’An Mil (8km) - medieval working museum of a 1st Millennium village - a traditional farming community with rural livestock. Blavet River – Large local river with 50km of towpaths, ideal for cycling, walking and fishing. Activities: For those who prefer to take an active holiday there are plenty of options to choose from, including: Cycling – There is plenty of choice for safe cycling whether you prefer to cycle along the flat towpath beside the river Blavet, along the stunning (and quiet) country lanes through woodland and villages or on the more strenuous mountain bike trails. Bicycle hire is available locally. Fishing - Over 28 local fishing areas such as the River Blavet, the Nantes-Brest canal and River Evel, cater for all types of angling. Daily or weekly permits can be purchased. Golfing – Six golf courses are within easy reach, situated in beautiful natural surroundings. Horse riding - Local equestrian centres provide an opportunity to go horse-riding and pony-trekking. Walking - There are plenty of country walks, well signposted, both in the immediate area and beyond. Maps of recommended walks with details on what to see on route are available. Water sports - Available locally, on rivers, inland lakes & reservoirs or by the seaside. These include Canoeing & Kayaking, Rowing, Sailing, Surfing, Windsurfing, Sand-karting and Jet skiing. Beaches - Southern Brittany has many beautiful fine sandy beaches ranging from secluded coves to extended beach fronts, most offering facilities and water-sports centres e.g. Carnac and Larmor-Plage. Historic towns & cities - Many in Brittany have managed to retain their medieval centres and character. This includes Pontivy & Josselin with their Rohan family chateaux as well as Auray, Carnac, and the ports of Vannes and Lorient. Megaliths (Neolithic) - Brittany and in particular, Morbihan, is famous for the volume and variety of Neolithic remains (5000 B.C.), including the famous alignments of Carnac. Much more… - Wildlife reserves, parks, chateaux gardens, zoos, an aquarium and a whole variety of museums covering French Resistance, Dolls, Postcards, Megaliths etc. can all be found in the local area.
