Surrounding Area: Lots to see and do: Mont Saint Michel (a World Heritage Site and stupendous at any time of year but especially wonderful at night and out of season— absolutely stunning under a light dusting of snow!).  Many beautiful sandy beaches to choose from only half an hour away. Cliff walks near Cancale (30 minutes, famed for its seafood) & the old walled port of St Malo (30 minutes drive); weekly markets & all ammenities (doctor, dentist, schools) at Pleine-Fougères (2km away), Pontorson (8 minutes), Dol-de-Bretagne (15 minutes, cathedral, indoor pool). Châteaux at Combourg (30 minutes) & Fougères (40 minutes), with the medieval university city of Rennes (Musée des Beaux Arts), the capital of Brittany, an easy hour’s drive to the south.
