The property: The cottage consists of a living room with well equipped kitchen, a double bedroom and a bathroom. Outside is a sunny terrace. It backs onto but is independent from the owner’s house. The decoration is cottagey and simple. Provencal fabrics and pale walls, comfortable furniture. There are three steps into the cottage from the terrace, the views from one living room window look down the valley to the hamlet of St Michel de Llotes, the market town of Ille sur Tet and beyond to the Corbieres hills, the other window overlooks the garden and pool area, the bedroom window: the terrace. It is a perfect home for two people to relax in while exploring the Pyrénées Orientales, or writing a novel, or looking to buy in the area.

Outside Area: The terrace is south facing and has a table and chairs for outdoor eating. The tenants have the use of the large pool (7x14 metres) plus BBQ pool area and the extensive grounds. The views all round are spectacular. Mas d’en Grau is a tranquil and peaceful spot, 10 minutes drive from Ille sur Tet.

Surrounding Area: Mas d’en Grau has a commanding position in the Aspres hills above the valley of the Tet. Perfect walking and cycling country with riding, swimming, canoeing, canyoning, white water rafting, and skiing within easy reach.

The hamlet of St Michel de Llotes has a museum of Catalan Agriculture, in Ille sur Tet the ancient Hospici houses the centre for Baroque Art. The whole area is littered with hermitages, Romanesque chapels, churches and monasteries. The famous Music festival of Pablo Casals is held 30 mins away in Prades each summer, in Perpignan, 30 mins in the opposite direction, the Visa exhibition of Photo journalism attracts photographers from all over the world. Château de Queribus is just visible from the swimming pool and other Cathar castles are 40-70 mins drive from the Mas. Beaches on the sandy coast are 35 mins drive, the rocky coast (Collioure) 45-50 mins drive. Spain is 45 mins away.
