The property: Built on one level, our Charantaise cottage sleeps 4 (plus a sofa bed) and has been renovated to modern standards whilst still retaining many original features such as wooden floors, an open fireplace, and large shuttered windows in all rooms, making it very light and airy. There are 2 double bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and 1 with twin beds. The lounge has a wooden floor with rug, an open fireplace, sofa and sofa-bed, DVD, TV, Video, CD/tape player, and various indoor games. The kitchen looks out onto the garden and has a gas cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, cafetiere, double Belfast sink, dining table and chairs, iron and ironing board and a washing machine. The toilet is separate from the bathroom which has a bath, shower, bidet and sink unit. Duvets and pillows are provided and the kitchen is fully equipped for up to 6 people. It is a really comfortable home from home.

Outside Area: The sunny garden and patio are private and fully enclosed by tall hedges, with an old tree for shade and a pretty garden. There is a large outhouse and wine cellar which can be used for storage, and a dry side entrance. The property is suitable for young and old alike and there is no traffic apart from the occasional tractor. As well as a wooden bench-seat for meals, there are sun loungers and a BBQ – a perfect place to relax with a bottle of the local Pineau!

Surrounding Area: Nearby attractions include many lakes with man-made beaches, swimming & tennis; "Venise Verte" for punting and canoeing; 9 different golf courses; the Pescalis International Fishing & Nature Centre; Go-karting and an adventure forest; Puy du Fou "historical theme park" and night-time son et lumiere; the futuristic cinematic theme park 'Futuroscope'; La Rochelle, and many beautiful abbeys and churches. Details of the many local walks and bike rides are available at the cottage. Being central to so many areas, it is also perfect for long term stays for house hunting or sampling the French laid-back way of life before taking the plunge.

Pricing Info: Long term rentals (from 1 month) are priced excluding oil (for heating when needed) and electricity which are paid on receipt of bill. Logs and linen can be provided by arrangement. Deposit is one month, and payment one month in advance, to be paid either in Euros or Sterling.  Summer lets available from May to September, from £225 - £300 per week.
