The property: The Lodgehouse is a stone built property comfortably furnished in traditional style. Ideally suited for a couple or a young family. On the ground floor there is a living room with archway opening into the kitchen. The living room has comfortable seating and is equipped with a dining table and chairs to seat 4 people. There is a TV with free view satellite channels and a DVD player. There is a selection of DVD's available to borrow. The kitchen is equipped with fridge, gas cooker, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and toaster.

There is a separate toilet and a shower room with wash basin, bidet and shower also situated on the ground floor.

The first floor is accessed via an open tread staircase from the living room, giving direct access into the bedroom which has a double bed and 2 single beds.

The Lodgehouse is heated via a woodburning stove situated in the living room and is suitable for all year use. Special rates can be negotiated for long term lets, suitable for house hunters or similar. The Lodgehouse is also suitable for short breaks.

There are a selection of toys, books and DVD's available for guests to borrow.

Outside Area: The property is situated at the front of our grounds with access via double wooden gates into the Courtyard area for parking.

There is a large enclosed and separate garden to the front of the Lodgehouse which is equipped with patio furniture and a BBQ for outside dining. The garden is accessed via a single gate off the courtyard. 

Garden

Surrounding Area: We are in the village of Oulmes which has numerous amenities within walking distance. We are 15 minutes to the Renaissance town of Fontenay-le-comte and the city of Niort. (Both with Saturday market). Both places have large hypermarkets, restaurants and many other shops and boutiques. The nearest supermarket is 10 minutes away. We are on the edge of the Marais Poitevin or Venise Verte (Green Venice), the Marais is ideal for walking and cycling with many designated trails. There are numerous port areas around the Marais, some close by are Maillezais, Le Mazeau, and St Sigismond. The nearest is Courdault which is minutes away and has a traditional Auberge for lazy lunches. The properties are 10 minutes from the lovely village of Coulon which has numerous shops, restaurants and opportunities for boat trips on the Canals.

Maillezais is 10 minutes away with its historic Abbey of St Peter founded in the 10th century.. Nearby Nieul-sur-l'Autise is home to the abbey of St Vincent. The forest of Mervent is less than half an hour away and has over 12,000 acres of mixed woodland, with over thirty varieties of tree. There are inland lakes, some with lakeside beaches and water sports, a small zoo and an amusement park (Parc de Pierre Brune). The forest provides ideal days out for walking, riding, cycling and picnics. Close to Mervent forest is the beautiful village of Vouvant with its Romanesque church.

We are 1 hour from the lovely Vendee coast, known for its wonderful coastline and year round warm climate, vast sandy beaches, sea fishing, mussel and oyster farming. Beaches close by include L'Aiguillon sur Mer, Faute sur Mer, La Tranche sur Mer and Les Sables d'Olonne. There is the beautiful historic harbour of La Rochelle with its two towers and the Aquarium, La Rochelle also provides the opportunity to take a boat trip to visit the adjacent islands. Visit the island of Ile de Re accessible by car for fantastic beaches with calm shallow waters, the island also host numerous oyster bed farms which sell direct to the public.

Pricing Info: Monthly rent depends on length of stay and time of year. Electricity charged extra via meter. Wood for burner can be supplied at a reasonable cost. Cooker uses bottled gas, full bottle on arrival leave full bottle on departure. Bed linen etc can be supplied at a reasonable cost. Security Deposit is 1 months rent with one month's rent payable in advance to secure a booking. Payment in sterling to UK bank account.
