Surrounding Area: Mas Pujol is the ideal for people who are interested in hill walking or mountain biking as the immediate area offers multiple choices at every skill level in some of the best scenery in the this area of France. For people who would like a “stress free” experience the Mas offers peace, tranquillity and a chance to relax in the middle of nature as well as the hot thermal spa at nearby Amelie les Bains. For golfers there are three 18 hole courses within easy reach and horse riding/trekking is also available nearby along with a host of other outdoor activities.
Though tucked away from a busy noisy world access is easy to the Med beaches of nearby beautiful Collioure, Argeles sur Mer and St.Cyprien.
Perpignan is the department capital and was the seat of the Kings of Majorca and boasts many fine public buildings which are well worth a visit - the Royal Palace, the Castillet also the railway station the roof of which was painted by Dali is a must.
Céret nearby, the provincial capital, is a delightful old world town with a modern art museum which features works by Picasso (who lived there for some years) and each Saturday morning there is one of the best markets in the department.
Spain is also very close by and in a day you can easily visit Figueres with the eccentric Dali Museum and then on to Cadaques/Portlligat to visit Dali’s home which is now also a museum and then stroll the small streets of one the best preserved villages on the Costa Brava.
Just further down the coast at Sant Mardi (just beside L’Escala) you can visit the excavated Greek/Roman port town of Empuries with a very fine museum displaying the artefacts and history of the town. When you are exhausted by all that culture you can relax on a fine golden sand beach just beside the excavations or lunch in the pleasant village of Sant Marti.
Barcelona is about two hours away on the motorway and is one of the most interesting and exciting cities in Europe with a huge range of sights to visit - the Picasso Museum and Gaudi’s Sacreda Famila Cathedral, the Aquarium and of course the Rambla together with great shopping.
