Les Tournesols is currently available for rental with our new 3 bedroom gîte ‘The Wheatfields’ opening in 2008.  Both gîtes are situated next to each other in a large converted barn. They are a mirror image of one another with Les Tournesols being slightly larger in square footage.

Ideal for larger families or people wishing to holiday with friends. These large gîtes have a separate lounge with sofabed (Les Tournesols only), woodburner and downstairs WC. There is a comfortable fully equipped kitchen with dining table, leading onto the back patio and garden overlooking open countryside and fields of sunflowers (alternate years). Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, the master bedroom having an en-suite showeroom. There is a further double bedroom at the rear with a double bed which can convert to twin singles if necessary. The third and smallest bedroom easily holds full size bunk beds. There is also a separate showeroom and WC.

The gîtes are equipped with all the usual amenities including oven and hob, microwave, washing machine and fridge/freezer.  In the lounge there is satellite TV, video, DVD and a music system.

They are well insulated. Having the combination of a  wood burning stove with ducted heating into the master bedroom and additional heaters in the other bedrooms and kitchen, these gîtes provide a comfortable base for families over the winter period. We have already accommodated long term rentals of 4 and 6 months.

Outside Area: Enclosed rear garden with dining facilities and B-B-Q. To the front is an open courtyard with communal seating areas. 12m x 6m heated swimming pool (via solar panels).

As the rear gardens are enclosed they are perfect for containing dogs. Cats are free to wonder in the open countryside surrounding the property.

Surrounding Area:  Villenouvelle is a small hamlet situated in the North of the Charente-Maritime.  Less than 5 minutes away is our nearest village with all local amenities including co-op, boulangerie, doctors, dentist, pharmacy, bar/restaurant and church.

Ideally placed for outings to La Rochelle, The Marais Poitevin, Cognac, Poitiers and Bordeaux to name but a few, our holiday homes offer a comfortable base if you wish to explore the Poitou-Charentes and Aquitaine Regions.  The area is ideal for walking and. With good access routes, Le Repos des Hiboux is a great base for house hunting or a relaxing holiday.

With the added advantage of having 3 low cost airports nearby (La Rochelle, Poitiers and Bordeaux) we are just hours away!

Family Friendly

As parents of young girls, we understand that if the children are happy, you are able to relax and enjoy your holiday more.  We also understand the importance of safety and have, where possible tried to ensure the whole area is child friendly and safe. Our heated swimming pool is not only enclosed with a lockable gate but also has an automatic key operated cover for added security. 

There is a comprehensive video and DVD library for children, games box, a playstation, garden jenga, pétanque and other toys available for your use. Cots, highchairs, stairgates and fire guards are available.

We have a range of bicycles available for guest use, including both rear baby chairs and a 2 seat toddler bike trailer, ideal for taking on family picnics to explore our local area.

Pricing Info: Long term lets reduced to £600 per calendar month (between 1st November and 31st March) for rentals of 3 months or more. Price includes gas, electricity (within reason) and water but does not include logs or telephone.

We require a deposit of 20% at the time of reservation in order to guarantee your holiday; the balance to be paid eight weeks before your arrival date. The following prices are per week and include bedding and electricity. Towels and an additional linen change can be provided at an extra charge.
