The property:  A single storey house attached to the owners property, Les Lauriers was completely renovated during 2007 and now provides a spacious private holiday cottage also available for long term lets, ideal for a couple or two friends.

A few easy steps lead from a private garden to a small veranda, perfect for watching the sun set over the rolling open countryside.

Enter the fully equipped kitchen / living room, with all the comforts of home, and a warming logburner. There is a dishwasher, washing machine , gas cooker and fridge. All equipment was new in 2007. A cosy settee, t.v. with French terrestrial channels and an English language news channel, D.V.D player, library and C.D. player complete the facilities.

From the kitchen a door leads to a cosy study, the perfect place to read that holiday novel or even to write one!

From here you can step into the new shower-room, in cool green livery or the spacious, stylish bedroom, with white painted furniture, a double bed and a very comfortable single bed settee.

Outside Area: The house enjoys its own private, enclosed garden with paved terrace overlooking rolling fields, usually planted with maize or sunflowers. There is a 10 by 5 metre swimming pool shared with the owners and two other gîtes for summer months. There is also a fully equipped mini-gym and bikes are available.

Surrounding Area: Les Gacheries is set in a small hamlet in the beautiful rolling hills of the north Dordogne, the Perigord Vert.

Local air ports are; Bergerac (75 minutes), Bordeaux (100 minutes), La Rochelle (120 minutes), Limoges (120 minutes) T G V to Paris and St Pancras is available at Angouleme, 35minutes away. It’s about a 6 hour drive from Le Havre or Cherbourg.

Our nearest village, Cherval , with a bakery, general store and bar is just 4 k away and lies just off the D708, midway between  Rochebeaucourt  and Verteillac. The latter, just 15 minutes away has a good selection of bars, 2 restaurants, and shops providing all basic needs. 25 minutes away is Riberac the foie gras capital of France, with its colourful Friday market and all types of services.

We are within easy reach of the department capital, Perigueux, the bustling city of Angouleme and the beautiful and historic towns of Brantome and Aubeterre, with numerous pretty villages, chateaux, rivers and lakes nearby. Within a days drive and well worth a visit are Cognac with its distilleries, Bordeaux and Bergerac vineyards, Sarlat and Les Eyzies with their prehistoric sites and many other attractions.

Fishing lakes are nearby as are the rivers Dronne, the Dordogne and the L’ Isle, we can lend tackle and arrange permits. Canoes can be rented from many nearby sites for a gentle paddle down a river. Cycles are available if you wish to explore this rural areaand burn off a few pounds. You may borrow our golf clubs if you fancy a round, at Perigueux or Aubeterre. Local rambling clubs welcome visitors.
