The property:  “La Bergerie” cottage is a former sheep barn, tastefully restored, on two floors.
The ground floor has terracotta tiles and a kitchen/dining room with dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, oven and gas/electric stove. The living room has satellite television with VCR and a fireplace containing a wood burning caste iron stove. The house also has oil central heating.
Upstairs you have wooden floors containing two bedrooms and a tiled bathroom with tub, shower & WC. Furnishings are pine and wicker.
Exposed oak beams throughout. Scatter rugs for a cozy effect! Own front and back yard private entry with garden furniture provided.

Outside Area: Our large typical Perigordian estate is situated on 20 hectares/50 acres of forest and pasture on a hillside with wide-open views. The tranquil location on a small country lane overlooking magnificent valleys insures peace, quiet and privacy.
“Cantegrive” is midway between Bergerac and Sarlat on the south side of the Dordogne River. Shops, services and sites, however, are close by and our nearest towns of St. Avit Sénieur (pop 350) and Beaumont (pop 2000), are quaint medieval Bastide villages.
 “La Bergerie” is connected to the owners’ houses but has its own independent entry.

Surrounding Area: In the area you will find a multitude of activities such as canoeing, tennis, riding, biking and golf. Summer evenings are a festival of theatre and concerts in the many lovely churches and châteaux, which you can visit in the day as well. The famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux, with their wall paintings, amongst others, await your explorations.
There are markets in most towns and villages on different days of the week, bursting with food; cheese, wine, bread, fresh fruit and vegetables, cakes and the black truffles our area is famous for!
Cosy restaurants serve Perigordian specialities; foie gras, magret de canard, confit, at budget friendly prices. The acclaimed Bordeaux & St. Emilion vineyards are a short drive away and Bergerac (pop 28000) also has very good wines.

Pricing Info: Minimum rental period 1 month from November through April. Utilities, central heat, wood for the stove, linen & towels included. 1 month’s deposit is necessary to book.  Rental due on the first of each month preferably in cash. Booking deposit applied to final month’s rental payment.
If a telephone line is required (for internet access, for example) charges are paid directly to France Telecom. We require a 200 Euro deposit for use of the phone line (applied to the final invoice.)
