The property: Petite Merle was originally built in the 14th Century with stone and colombage, and beams from the ships which came in from South America to Bordeaux. It has been carefully restored by its present owners and includes all modern amenities. All on one level, there is an open plan room at the front where there is a comfortable relaxing area with soft furnishings set around a large woodburning stove, a dining area and a kitchen fully equipped with gas hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. There is 1 double bedroom with dressing area and en suite shower room.

Outside Area: Outside is a large covered terrace with table and chairs, a lovely place to have a coffee and catch the morning sunshine. Use of owners pool in season. Own entrance and driveway, garden with large oak and lime trees and washing line.

Surrounding Area: Set in the heart of Aquitaine, Petite Merle is surrounded by gently rolling countryside, farmland, vineyards and pretty bastide villages and towns where weekly markets are held in the cobbled squares. 25 minutes drive south of Bergerac and the famous Château of Monbazillac, St. Colomb de Lauzun is ideal for touring the Dordogne valley and the vineyards of St. Emilion and Bordeaux.
3 kms from Petite Merle is the village of Lauzun where there is a small supermarket, butcher, baker, pharmacy, newsagents, bank and post-office plus a good restaurant and a café. Also worth a visit is the 14th-17th Century Château. There are many good restaurants within easy reach and for more extensive shopping there is Bergerac, Marmande, Villeneuve-sur-Lot and Bordeaux.
Sporting activities in the area include horse-riding, cycling, fishing and water sports on nearby lakes. There are local tennis courts in Lauzun village and several golf course within easy reach.
