The property:  The Mill house is full of character with original beams, casement windows, shutters, a stone fireplace and an oak carved staircase. It is recently decorated and tastefully furnished to complement the style of the house. It is the traditional Miller’s house on three floors, around 200 years old, although the mill itself dates from the eleventh century. The ground floor is one large room and has a tiled floor, a wood-burning stove, sofa, easy chairs and antique furniture. The kitchen forms part of the room. There is a cloakroom with WC.
The second floor has a double bedroom with two windows, a fireplace and modern pine furniture. There is a spacious landing with books, games and additional seating. The shower room has two wash-hand basins and a WC. All the floors are wood.
The third floor is one large room with original beams, a wooden floor, three windows, a wash-hand basin and a large amount of storage under the eaves with shelves and hanging rails. It is large enough to have additional seating.
All household linen, bedding and towels are provided.

The Mill House interior

Outside Area: There is a large courtyard and a riverside garden where the rowing boat is moored. Both have sunny and shady areas. There is a games room with table-tennis, cycles, outside games, garden furniture, a portable BBQ and a small walled garden. A rod & line can be borrowed; the river is well-stocked with a variety of fish. There is a poplar wood and several small islands. The views of the river are exceptionally pretty. In the garden there is a replica of a pilgrim chapel which is now used as a wood store. A barn provides additional storage. 

Outside the Mill House

Surrounding Area: The immediate area is well-wooded, gentle, undulating and has many countryside walks to surrounding villages, wayside chapels and watermills. There are two riding schools within walking distance, with swimming, tennis, pedaloes and karting within 7km. There are many local chateaux with the famous Loire Chateaux easily accessible by car. Saumur, troglodyte dwellings and Fontevraud Abbey are a 45 minute drive. The Anjou vineyards, from which you can buy direct, begin only 25 minutes’ drive away, while the historic city of Angers is under an hour’s drive. In the summer there are many local fairs and music festivals, as well as the spectacular Puy de Fou in the nearby Vendée (45 minutes). Futurscope, Poitiers and the Marais Poitevin are all just over an hour distant.
