French windows lead directly onto fully enclosed and very private pretty lawned garden. Views across meadows and woodland. Deer, wild boar, herons often seen from here. Safe for children and pets. Surrounding Area:  The cottage lies in an area of France relatively unknown to English visitors, and very much off the tourist track. It is possible to walk/cycle/ride for miles on tracks alongside fields and through forests, directly from the cottage. The rural roads are astonishingly empty of traffic, and the small villages and towns maintain a sense of being cut off from the rest of the country, with a very local atmosphere. The historic town of Montluçon is nearby, and its medieval centre contains many restaurants and cafés. Golf, pony-trekking and canoeing are all available locally. There are many châteaux and gardens open to visitors. The A71 motorway gives fast access from the north and from the south, and to the departments of Cher (Bourges), and Puy de Dôme (Clermont Ferrand). The N145 gives access to eastern Allier (Vichy, Moulins), and the departments of Creuse and Saône et Loire.
