Description of Property:
In a pretty mediaeval village in the foothills of the Massif Central (Central Mountains), surrounded by forests and clear-flowing rivers, this house is ideal for a holiday at whatever pace you choose. A large house, over 200m², it is restored to its original style of over two centuries ago, with walls and fireplaces of stone and great oak beams overhead. You could sit in one of the salons, or take dinner at the ample timber dining table - both in front of a roaring fire if the season is cool - and feel you have left the troubles of the present time far away. You will sleep soundly in the oak beds and perhaps breakfast on the terrace with fresh bread from the local boulangerie.
Authentically traditional though it is, the house is fitted with tasteful modern facilities - comfortable bathrooms with separate toilets, a kitchen adjacent to the dining room with everything you are likely to need, constant hot water, central heating, a convenient laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer, new modern mattresses and both English and French TV. No primitive inconveniences!
This is our own dream house. We love it, and when we retire, it is where we will make our home. For now, however, we are happy to let it out for part of each year, and we hope our guests will enjoy it as much as we do!

Just 10 minutes from the village is our main town, Argentat, spanning the great Dordogne River just below the Gorges. Every time you enter the town you’ll have the unforgettable sight of the Republic Bridge arching over the River, and the Old Town with its toes in the water. In Argentat you can buy any food or drink you could think of (and with open-shelf shops you don’t have to speak French), and there is a Tourist Information Office, excellent medical facilities, and many restaurants, bars and cafés at very moderate prices. You can have a five course lunch with wine for 14 €, or a cup of coffee for 1€.
There are swimming facilities within easy reach, and a range of other sporting activities. You can go horse riding, or take walks in the forests; you can fish in the rivers, or even go hunting if that is to your taste. A half-hour drive will take you to walking tracks deep into the Mountains of the Auvergne, including the famous Volcanoes. Or perhaps you’d enjoy a scenic boat ride on the mighty Dordogne River? It’s all up to you.

Pricing Info: High season rate 750 €. Linen provided, all utilities (electricity, phone, internet, oil and logs) charged at metered or cost rates. There is an English-speaking caretaker resident in the village to handle any matters that might arise. Deposit 250€ per month, refundable less utilities, damage etc. charges. Rent payable one month in advance to caretaker.
