Downstairs there is a large fully equipped kitchen with table and seating for 8. A comfortable lounge with 2 large sofas and chair plus satellite TV (freeview) and stereo player. Off the kitchen is a shower and separate toilet.
Stairs from the kitchen lead upstairs where there is a large double bedroom and a further bedroom with 3 single beds. There is also a bathroom and separate toilet.
Outside Amenities: The gîte and house stand in its own grounds enclosed by a stone wall. There is a large patio to the front and rear of the gîte with areas of lawn with mature trees including numerous fruit trees and a grape vine.
The driveway has parking for 2 cars. There is an attached open barn with concrete floor. Plenty of space for playing games including a table tennis table.

Surrounding Area: The gîte and house stands in the middle of Villeneuve la Comtesse a small village in the Charente Maritime. The village has a bar/restaurant, co-op, boulangerie, chemist and doctors surgery and recreational areas, all within an easy walk away. There is an open-air swimming pool in the next village, with a much larger pool complex in St Jean d'Angely.
The port of La Rochelle is within easy reach and the nearest main towns are St Jean d’Angely, Surgères and Niort, all 15 kms away.
The nearest sandy beach (3 kms long) is at Chatelaillon (45 kms) whilst other more wilder beaches can be found further down the coast towards Royan.
The area includes the islands of Ile de Ré, Ile d’Aix and Ile d’Oléron famous for their oysters and mussels.
Within 30 minutes drive is Cognac the medieval town with attractive narrow cobbled streets and elegant Renaissance facades and, of course, the home of the fabled 'nectar' since the 17th century.
To the north, a 20 minute drive away, are the waterways of the "Marais Poitevin" a maze of canals built by monks in the middle ages. Boats can be hired from the picturesque village of Coulon.
Several golf courses are an easy drive away.
