Description of Property:
The cottage has a large salon in an open plan living style. Kitchen with all modcons, sitting area and dining area all with quality fittings and furniture. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, which have twin beds that can be joined to make large doubles. Each bedroom has a simple wardbrobe and shelves. There is also a modern shower room next door.
The cottage was built in 1875 and has a country rustic feel about it with exposed stone walls and oak beams and a lovely Charentaise fireplace housing a log burner. However, the cottage has been decorated to modern taste and fitted out with quality furnishings. Large windows give views over the gardens and french countryside beyond.
Outside Amenities: Clients have their own off street car park and private enclosed garden. If you have dogs then you can rest assured they will be safe in their own space. Right next door is our orchard and large lawn area at nearly 100 meters long for throwing a ball.
Surrounding Area: Whilst this spot is lovely, we would recommend that you explore the area which will require a car.
St Martin de Juillers is an ideal base set in the most beautiful rolling countryside. We are within easy travel distance of many local attractions. The Coast is less than an hour away with many beautiful beaches and resorts. Cognac is 30 minutes, Saintes is 25 minutes, St Jean d'Angely is 15 minutes and Angouleme is 45 minutes. All are gorgeous towns with French markets and lovely architecture, churches, riverside walks and shopping opportunities.
La Rochelle is an hour away. Not only is it our nearest airport but the town and harbour are beautiful. Talmont and Meschers are among our favourite places to visit. Bordeaux is well worth a day trip at 90 minutes. Use the park and ride tram system, it's clean, modern and fab.
We are an ideal base for exploring on foot, bike (we have some you can borrow), and by car. So you can be as active or restful as you like.

Pricing Info: The local tax, Taxe de Sejour is charged as an extra. Currently this is 80 euro-cents per night per adult and is collected locally.
The price does not include electricity or wood burning logs. The cottage has its own meter which is read at the beginning of each month and charged at the rate charged by Direct Energy (currently 17 cents per kw - average use is around 50 euros per month). Logs are supplied locally at cost stated by the supplier (usually 65 euros per stere (m3)). A stere lasts around a month on average.
If booking more than 4 weeks from the start of the holiday payment for the full rental period, up to three months, is due on booking along with a £200 refundable security deposit (£300 if pets are staying). There is a charge of £7 per bed set and £5 for a towel set (hand and bath towel) if they are required for your winter rental.
