Description of Property:   La Maison de Gabriel, nestled within the quaint village of Chantelle, reveals itself like a well-kept secret. Tucked away in the oldest enclave, it clings to the very edge of the river escarpment—a sentinel guarding the passage between realms.
As you step through the hand-hewn oak doors, the world outside fades into insignificance. The garden, cocooned by low stone walls, becomes your private sanctuary. Here, the air is thick with the scent of earth and the promise of forgotten stories. Look beyond, and the vista unfolds: a tapestry of treetops and white Charolais cows, their presence as ancient as the hills themselves. The river valley murmurs its own tale—a soundtrack of birdsong and the gentle meandering of water, etching secrets into the land.
This corner of the village marks the genesis of hidden trails along the river Bouble. They beckon to wanderers of all stripes, from the curious novice to the seasoned explorer. Yet fear not—the trails, like elusive whispers, do not pass directly before the cottage. Thus, peace and tranquility remain undisturbed, cradling the timeworn stones.
Step inside, and the house unfolds its own chapters. On the ground floor, a spacious living room (a generous 40 square meters) embraces an open-plan kitchen, where culinary alchemy meets conviviality. A study awaits, its shelves heavy with forgotten tomes, and a guest toilet—a discreet nod to comfort.
Ascend the oak staircase to the upper floor, where dreams find refuge. Here lies the 30-square-meter bedroom, its windows framing constellations and moonlight. Adjacent, a bathroom—its porcelain whispers echoing tales of ablutions and quiet contemplation.
But the true magic lies in the architectural echoes of ages past. Large oak beams stretch across the ceiling, their gnarled forms like ancient guardians. The stone-and-chalked walls harbor secrets etched by hands long gone. And those Louis XV-style fireplaces, where flames once danced to ward off winter’s chill, now cradle memories.
Descend further, into the vaulted wine cellar—a two-story abyss where cobwebs cling to forgotten vintages. Here, perhaps, the spirits of vintners and revelers still linger, savoring the taste of centuries.
And if your heart seeks more than one abode, cast your gaze across the way. La Maison de Constance, its windows winking in silent camaraderie, awaits directly opposite. Two souls, mirror images, each with its own enigma to unravel.
Welcome to La Maison de Gabriel—a place where the veil between past and present shimmers, and where the stones themselves whisper tales of forgotten love and lost keys. ???✨
