Description of Property: All facilities are on the ground floor. There are two double bedrooms and one room with bunk beds. A cot, highchair and baby bath can be provided on request. A hallway leads to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. A breakfast bar separates the fully-equipped kitchen from the living area. The shower room is situated off the kitchen, and there is a separate small room which houses the washing machine and cleaning materials. The covered terrace is accessed from the lounge, and leads to the private, enclosed back garden. The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, and has been supplied with ample crockery, cutlery, glassware, oven dishes, etc. A toaster and coffee maker are also supplied. The furniture is modern and comfortable. English Freeview and French TV are provided, as well as free WiFi (download: max 6, upload: max 3. )
Outside Amenities: The property has a gravelled courtyard to the front with a shared drive. A double open carport provides shelter. The rear garden is mainly laid to lawn and is enclosed by hedges and fencing, offering privacy. A 10m x 5m swimming pool is for private use of guests during the summer season (mid-June to mid-September). A covered terrace at the back of the house allows for outside dining or just relaxing in the shade. Six sun loungers are provided. A gas BBQ is available for guests' use. A separate play area with a swing set is shared with our other gîte.
Surrounding Area: La Vigne is a quiet hamlet adjacent to Sarrazac, a small village which boasts a restaurant (for weekday home cooked French cuisine), post office, primary school, library and Mairie. The larger town of Thiviers is some 15 minutes drive away, where there are supermarkets, shops, banks, pharmacies, a cinema, vet etc. and has a lovely market on a Saturday morning. In the other direction of Sarrazac lies Jumilhac le Grand, which boasts a beautiful large castle which can be visited. Jumilhac also has a restaurant, cafe, small supermarket, pharmacy, and ATM. The local area is famous for foie gras and truffles, and there are plenty of beautiful villages and towns to visit. A bit further afield is Périgueux, a typical French town with lots of shops, cafés, restaurants, little squares and a fantastic market. Here is also where one finds the larger supermarkets and shops.
