Very smart and comfortable, this apartment is beautifully and comfortably furnished with plenty of cushions, lamps & throws. We set it up to be our own home away from home when we visit France from Australia. The apartment is light and spacious with double glazing, new kitchen with dishwasher & washing machine/ dryer.
It is on the square within walking distance to cafes, restaurants, bars & shops and a short stroll to the river.
Perfectly located for a holiday or ideal as a comfortable bolthole while searching for your own piece of belle France.

Surrounding Area: The apartment is located on the square opposite the Mairie and therefore everything is on the doorstep.
Several large supermarkets are within a couple of kms. The beautiful Dordogne river is at the end of the street. Lovely walking tracks go by the river and it is popular for canoeing and swimming in summer.
The town is a medieval bastide town, located on the Dordogne river. It is and has always been, for 800 years, a genuine working town, a trading port because of its riverside location. So, if you are after the picture book touristy sanitised village, this is not for you.
The building in which the apartment is located is on the square opposite the mairie, so there are two patisseries, two pharmacies, at least six restaurants & cafes, two bars within close range. The river is at the end of the street, a two minute stroll, and where we walk every day while in France.
The town is located in the Purple Perigord, so named because it is in the premium wine growing area of Bordeaux. The rural lands are all under vine & Ste Foy has its own appellation. Ste Emilion is about half an hour away.
The food is amazing and although we have a full kitchen, we have rarely been guilty of using it! With michellin starred restaurants on the doorstep, who would?
The Saturday market is sensational and was voted the 'Best Market in France 2014' It meanders around the entire town and sells everything, but food is the feature.
The train station is 700 metres away with trains to many places but specifically, Bordeaux, Bergerac & Libourne. There is an international airport at Bordeaux ( 1.15 hours away ) and Bergerac ( 20 mins ) However, Ste Foy La Grande is perfectly located to explore the numerous chateaux, villages etc and other parts of the Perigord region, famous for food and specializing in all duck products, foie gras, walnuts and truffles. So if you wish to venture beyond the town you would find a car necessary.
We are 3 hours from San Sebastian via the autoroutes and usually incorporate a trip into Spain or Italy when we are there.
