A stone built barbecue is adjacent to the covered terrace. The whole estate is set in 9 hectares (22.5 acres) of parkland pasture and woods. There are trees of many different varieties as well as fruit trees . The area above La Grange is the original barn and offers vast, dry storage accessed from enormous double doors. Surrounding Area:  The lively village of Catus is just 3kms away. All necessary day to day shopping is possible here and there are two excellent bars and a restaurant. There is a restaurant and take away in St Denis Catus. Within a short distance are some of the most celebrated restaurants of the local region. Other shops in Catus include a pharmacy, a wine shop, a supermarket, a butcher, a baker, a newsagent, a florist and a hairdresser. There is a veterinary surgery and a garage. To the far side of Catus is Lac Vert into which the River Vert flows. There is good fishing all along the Vert and the lake has many leisure activities besides fishing. In the summer season there is a water sports centre with swimming, boating, tennis, table tennis, volley ball, basket ball and there is a keen local football team in the winter months. In summer, the Catus Cricket Team has their ground at Lac Vert. Two bars and restaurants at the lake are open during the summer months. There is a riding stables nearby.

This is the heart of the Cahors wine region and there are countless local châteaux, the more famous being Mercues and La Grezette, both of which are around ten minutes away. The area abounds with caves, some of which feature prehistoric remains and paintings. Cahors itself is a very old town with much medieval architecture remaining. The Valentre Bridge is the oldest in Europe and has a very romantic history. Begot was the area chosen for a British barracks in the 100 years war and La Grange was part of a farm established to supply the troops. In nearby Catus there is a tower built by the French to watch for attacks by the British troops.

Market day in Catus is a Tuesday but there are markets all around the local area. One of the most popular is on Sunday mornings in Cazals – about 10 kms. Mercues has an antiques market each month.

The A20 motorway runs nearby and continues to Montauban where you can join the A6 to Toulouse. The journey to Toulouse Airport is just over the hour. Toulouse is served by British Airways as well as Easyjet, Ryanair and Aer Lingus. Bergerac Airport is also served by RyanAir and is about a one hour drive. Rodez and Limoges Airports are a two hour drive. Brive Airport is 30 minutes away with flights to London City, served by Ryanair and CityJet. Cahors is on the main railway line between Paris and Toulouse. There are bus services from Cahors to London Victoria coach station.

C'est le cœur du vignoble de Cahors et les châteaux locaux ne manquent pas, les plus célèbres étant Mercues et La Grezette, tous deux à une dizaine de minutes. La région regorge de grottes, dont certaines présentent des vestiges préhistoriques et des peintures. Cahors elle-même est une très vieille ville avec beaucoup d'architecture médiévale. Le pont Valentre est le plus ancien d'Europe et a une histoire très romantique. Begot était la zone choisie pour une caserne britannique pendant la guerre de 100 ans et "Le Fournil" faisait partie d'une ferme établie pour approvisionner les troupes. Dans la ville voisine de Catus, il y a une tour construite à l'origine par les Français pour surveiller les attaques des troupes britanniques, mais l'original a été remplacé par une tour plus petite au XIXe siècle.

Le jour du marché à Catus est un mardi, mais il y a des marchés dans toute la région. Il y a une excellente brocante à St Denis Catus pour les chasseurs de bonnes affaires et une foire aux antiquités mensuelle à Mercues à proximité.

L'autoroute A20 passe à proximité et continue jusqu'à Montauban et jusqu'à Toulouse. Le trajet jusqu'à l'aéroport de Toulouse dure un peu plus d'une heure. Toulouse est desservie par Air France/KLM, British Airways ainsi que Easyjet, Ryanair et Aer Lingus. L'aéroport de Bergerac est également desservi par British Airways, Jet2, RyanAir et Transavia. C'est à environ une heure de route. Les aéroports de Rodez et de Limoges sont à deux heures de route. Le nouvel aéroport de Brive est desservi par Ryanair qui vole entre Brive et London City. Cahors est sur la voie ferrée principale entre Paris et Toulouse.
