From Place Carnot, the town square in the Bastide wind your way to river and cross the ancient bridge to reach the Unesco World heritage site, known locally as La Cité.
The fortified city is well situated between rolling foothills of the Pyrenees with fields of sunflowers to the west, the drier Mediterranean Corbieres hills with limestone escarpement and olive groves are to the south east, the beech woods or the Black mountains are to the north and sandy beaches grace the east.
The Languedoc region is known for its natural beauty, historical landmarks and has a rich history of artisanal craftsmanship going back to the Medieval times. Today there are many thriving artistic communities that continue to attract artists, writers, and other creatives from all around the world.
