Description of Property:   Maisonette de Roses (Rose Cottage).
The house is named after the beautiful white rose that grows up against the barn wall. This blooms in May and June. We rent in the summer months on a weekly basis and in the winter on a monthly basis. Spring and Autumn can be weekly or monthly. The house is well prepared for winter or summer lets.

We bought this house in 1992 and spent about a year using a local architect and French builders to help us renovate it. There were nine different tradesmen involved and we met them on site every Friday. You may have heard awful stories of French builders but we have nothing but praise for them. They did everything they could to help us retain the character of the building but add a modern feeling to that. We hope that we have sympathetically blended the traditions of the old with the requirements of the modern age.

We have been letting the property very successfully for the past 20 years to a range of new, regular and returning clients. The main attraction for us and the many tenants and friends that have used the property over the years is the proximity to the lively and bustling village of Azay-le-Rideau with a great range of shops, restaurants, bars and of course the truly excellent chateau. At just over a kilometer walk into the village you have every opportunity to enjoy this glorious village. Walking, cycling and the whole Loire Valley chateaux are at you disposal.

The house has been built into the hillside and is attached on one side to the home of an elderly French neighbour.

Surrounding Area:  Azay-le-Rideau is a beautiful and typical French village which is around 10 minutes’ walk along a level and very quiet road with a footpath.

Whilst dominated by the beautiful Chateau, the village is very lively and vibrant. There is a wide and varied selection of high quality restaurants and more traditional French cafés to suit all tastes and budgets. There is a large variety of shops from Pharmacies to souvenir shops and wine merchants.

However Azay-le- Rideau is not just a tourist venue but also a working town and that means there is the range of genuine French shops. There is an excellent Hypermarket no more that 5 minutes drive from the house on the main road to Tours and also a typical French market in the village every Wednesday and Saturday. There are two Boulangeries in the village as well as butchers, cake shops and delicatessens. Even English newspapers are available at the Newsagents.
